The Public Transport Authority, or PTA, is a Western Australian statutory authority. It operates public transport in Western Australia. This authority is the most recently constituted body governing public transport in Western Australia. In previous decades the most commonly remembered name of public transport was of the Western Australian Government Railways which had both railway and road transport services - the same as the current PTA. ==Services== The Public Transport Authority runs many services. They are: * Transperth, which is the trading name of the public transport system in metropolitan Perth. * Transwa, which is the trading name of the public transport system between towns in regional WA. * New MetroRail, oversaw the construction of the Southern Suburbs Transit System.
